Performing Artist

Chandry was granted the opportunity to live in Paris, France in 2007. During her stay she was astounded by the immense talent of musicians from underground clubs to the streets of Paris. After she had the opportunity to perform at the well-known venue Caveau Des Oublies, Chandry reflected, "Living and performing in Paris and witnessing abundant talent was humbling - it was the experience I needed to realize that I wanted my life to be devoted as a singer in New York City."

In 2008, Chandry immersed herself in Seattle's jazz and world music scene to which she found her niche in the sub-genre "Jazzinho" which translates to, "sweet little jazz music" in Brazilian Portuguese. Her love of World and Latin music led her to sing vocals with the Seattle Afro-Latin band "SalsaRiba" in 2009.  This Afro-Peruvian band got her started in performing various Latin music styles like romantic Cuban-style boleros and Cha-Cha melodies and Salsa music.

Not long after moving to New York in 2009, she was the lead singer with her trio, Chandry Abreu & Trio, from 2009-2016 they performed at various venues in New York City such as; Club Bonafide, The Metropolitan Room, Creole, Village Underground, Zinc Bar, Camaradas, Nuyorican Poet's Cafe, the Garage, and Smalls and Maison Harlem. Chandry returned to classical and opera stages in 2016. An adept teaching artist and stage actor, Chandry played the role of Salma's mother in Abraham's Land, (2021) Ruby Simmons in the staged reading of Mississippi Summer (2023).
